DISCOVERY KIDS / CHANNEL LAUNCH

/

Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific commissioned The DMC Initiative to help launch new children’s channel, Discovery Kids. The massive project involved the design and animation of all on-air channel package elements, marketing concepts for launch and off-air designs developed for trade and consumer markets. Discovery Kids progressively launches over the next year throughout the various Asia-Pacific regions.

The DMCI created an on-air package consisting of a core channel package and 7 genre based sub-brand packages. The extensive toolkit (over 400 elements) includes 14 Channel IDs and is tied together by a regionally specific digital style-guide. Marketing concepts for launch were developed for both trade and consumer campaigns, whilst designs and concepts were created for ongoing marketing collateral which all rolls out regionally, post channel launch. Everything from print ads and merchandise, all the way to a giant inflatable octopus and portable science water park were considered!

KNOW YOUR OWN SKIN

This commercial was designed and directed for the KNOW YOUR OWN SKIN, skin cancer awareness campaign.
The concept for the campaign is based on a man reminiscing on various stages of his life and the time he spent in the sun. In designing, directing and producing the video, we needed to ensure the tone avoided being scary or foreboding. It needed to entice people to consider their own (or their friends/families) past and sun exposure, prompting them to check themselves or get checked, without feeling scared. The treatments reflected the era’s with each section shot and treated to suit.

FUTURE PROOF - 2011 A/NZ PromaxBDA Opener

FUTURE PROOF was conceived, designed and directed by Nathan Drabsch, Bernard Tan and myself at The DMCI, and the visuals bought to life with awesome audio design by Mark Brandis and Jeff Black at ism studios.
Originally intended as an opening film for the  2011 A/NZ Promax BDA Conference, FUTURE PROOF has enjoyed a much broader success, being featured in many international film and motion festivals including the 2012 Olympics ICCI 360 Visual Arena.

We are very proud at the success of this film and the recognition it has received.

Our approach was to focus not on futuristic notions but to consider that which is timeless. People, the expression of self and the interactions between each other are timeless qualities relevant to creativity, no matter what the future holds.

As a whole, the focus is on the dancers as they create and interact with abstract forms in a vast unknown world. Their own movements determine the creation and final destruction of these elements. Their own paths of communication and creative expression have come full circle, and all that remains is the individual.
